Mr. Thepparat Theppitak, EGCO Group’s President, said that EGCO Group has continued its “The Spirit: Pay It Forward” campaign for two consecutive years. The underlying concept of this campaign is to share happiness and help people who are in need, while promoting the Company’s corporate governance and No Gift Policy, especially during New Year festival. Under this campaign, EGCO Group has turned its New Year’s gift budget into the donation budget for foundations and charitable organizations by encouraging its stakeholders and the general public to participate activities in this donation campaign. However, all donation budget is a responsibility of EGCO Group. Throughout the past three months, the total amount donated through the campaign was 2 million baht. The Company has presented all donations to nine foundations and charity organizations to support their works in the development of the society, covering different groups, including children, patients, people with disability, underprivileged people, education, and the environment.
“EGCO Group is pleased to see that the campaign, which continued in the second year, has successfully helped and inspired people in Thai society. At the same time, it strengthens EGCO Group’s corporate governance practice and emphasizes our commitment to growing together with the Thai society in a sustainable manner under the environmental, social and governance (ESG) framework. This is what we have been doing throughout the past 30 years and will continue in the future,” said Mr. Thepparat.
The nine charitable bodies received donations from the project are the Children’s Hospital Foundation (“Epilepsy” Project), the Foundation for Slum Child Care, the Cardiac Children Foundation of Thailand, the Thai with Disability Foundation, the Mirror Foundation (“Rai Som School” project), the Foundation of Education for Life and Society, the Bird Conservation Society of Thailand, the Green World Foundation, and the Thai Conservation of Forest Foundation. Mrs. Tipa Rojwatham, Director of Cardiac Children Foundation of Thailand, thanked the campaign for funding the Cardiac Children Foundation of Thailand. Believing that donation is an action of endless giving, the foundation will use the donation to fund heart surgery for children born with heart problems, and support mobile medical teams visiting underprivileged patients in remote areas. These activities will enhance opportunities for patients born with cardiac to have access to proper treatments and higher quality of life.
Mr. Soros Prasongsil, Executive Director of the Thai with Disability Foundation, shared appreciation of EGCO Group for providing financial support that the foundation will use for making wheelchairs and three-wheelers with handle that are customized for children with disability and senior persons nationwide. Each year, the foundation receives over 1,000 requests from children with disabilities nationwide asking for donated three-wheelers with handle and wheelchairs. This will increase quality of life and enable children with disabilities and senior persons to have higher quality of life and enjoy living with the public.
Mr. Eakalak Loomchomkhae, President of The Mirror Foundation, noted that the donation from the campaign would be used to fund the operations of Rai Som School project in Chiang Mai Province, which is under the supervision of the Mirror Foundation’s Fang Office. The school’s mission is to provide basic education and life skill training to children of workers from the neighboring countries and tribal people working in orange farms in Fang District, Chiang Mai. This will equip vulnerable children with knowledge and skills that enable them to have quality of life and are not taken advantage of when they grow up in working-age adulthood.
Mr. Petch Manopawitr, President of the Bird Conservation Society of Thailand, appreciated EGCO Group’s campaign for its intention to support social and environmental development. The donations will be used in conservation of rare birds in their habitats inside and outside natural reserves, such as Koh Man Mai Island in Rayong Province. The foundation has also organized monthly bird walk activity for the general public free of charge. These activities will raise public awareness of the importance of nature and biodiversity, which is the foundation for sustainable social and environmental development.
