Innovative Cooling Tower Retrofit
In a strategic move to enhance its energy efficiency, EGCO Group has introduced an innovative retrofit to its cooling towers. The project, titled "เจอ -ปรับ - เปลี่ยน", focuses on implementing advanced innovation and research and development efforts to decrease energy consumption significantly. By upgrading the cooling systems with state-of-the-art technologies, EGCO has managed to reduce the power consumption of its cooling towers from 140 kW to approximately 124.7 kW on average, resulting in a substantial decline in energy use across multiple units.
Benefits of the Project
- Annual reduction of approximately 438,876 kWh in electrical consumption.
- CO2 emissions reduced by 198 TCO2e/year.
- Estimated cost savings of 1.8 million Baht per year.
- Improved sustainability and environmental footprint.
Implementation Approach
- Utilized improved technologies and techniques in cooling system design.
- Phased implementation across multiple cooling towers to ensure minimal operational disruption.
- Regular monitoring and adjustment to optimize performance and energy savings.
Cooling Tower Fan Blade Pit Change at Klongluang Power Plant
EGCO Group recognizes the importance of energy and consistently promotes actions to reduce the amount of energy use at each power plants to enhance efficiency and sustainability as specified in energy efficiency policy.
Among those actions, Klongluang Power Plant implemented an engineering method to systematically improve the energy efficiency at the design level by reducing the cooling tower fan blade pit angle by 1 degree. This approach sustainably reduced the power needed to be used in the cooling tower by 10% while using low amount of investment and operational effort.
Benefits of the Project
- Energy consumption reduced by 375,804 kWh/year
- Estimated cost savings of 1.6 million Baht per year.
Implementation Approach
- Improvement of energy efficiency on the design level.
- High energy consumption reduction with low investment
- Regular monitoring for performance improvement.
Energy Conservation Awareness and Saving Technique Training
EGCO Group is committed to raising awareness about energy saving, which led to the initiation of Energy Conservation Awareness and Saving Technique as an energy efficiency training provided to employees to raise awareness of energy consumption reduction. The initiative provides comprehensive insights into the causes and consequences of energy waste, highlighting the positive results of implementing energy-saving measures and exploring various approaches to energy conservation. The training was conducted on-site on September 2023, with 37 participants actively joining in-house, fostering a collaborative and informed workplace environment dedicated to sustainability.
Benefits of the Project
- Improvement on energy conservation knowledge of the employees
- Future costs and environmental impacts reduction.
- Cultivation of energy awareness for sustainable culture.
Implementation Approach
- Interactive modules to enhance engagement.
