Electricity Generating Public Company Limited or EGCO Group has been successful in managing waste in the organization in a sustainable way, leading the “EGCO Ecosystem” project to receive a certificate of “Low Carbon Business: Waste Management Award” from the project “No waste on Vibhavadi Road”. The project was organized by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Sustainability Network of Thailand (TRBN). EGCO Group represented by Mr. Thepparat Theppitak, the President, attended the award ceremony on the Online platform on 1st June 2021.

EGCO Group, by volunteer employees, has initiated a project to promote employee volunteer spirit according to the organization's core values under the name "EGCO Ecosystem". The project starts from simple things that can be done every day from waste separation in the organization from 2020 onwards to raise awareness and encourage employees to know the type of waste and create proper garbage sorting behavior within the EGCO Headquarters building. The project was driven by the concept “Help separate waste to reduce contamination. Increase the recycling rate for a good ecosystem throughout the EGCO Building.” The company then joined the project in the “Vibhavadi Zero Waste Project” later on.

“The success factor that led EGCO Group to receive this award was caused by establishing a clear stance that segregation of waste is an organization's important mission. Both executives who act as role models and employees at all levels build a volunteer team to drive the project, continuously communicate data storage, report and monitor the results and adjust the operating methods to be the most conducive to the practicality. EGCO Group is delighted to be a part of the “Vibhavadi Zero Waste” project and contribute to the creation of positive impact for a good ecosystem.”

The “Vibhavadi Road No Waste” project was initiated by the SEC and TRBN in December 2019 by inviting the listed companies with offices along Vibhavadi Rangsit Road to joining manage waste within the organization and minimizing waste that cannot be recycled or used for other purposes. There will be a meeting to exchange experiences and have a consensus that will be assessed the implementation of the year 2020 to recognize the company's commitment to ongoing waste management in the organization. The award company has to continue working for more than three months to create the participation of personnel in the organization and has a recycling rate of more than 75%. EGCO Group is one of the three companies receiving this award from all 14 participating companies.
